Car Bio:
The Legends cars are modelled after Stock Cars that were driven by legendary drivers from the ’50s. The Legends cars are 5/8 scale replicas of some of the greatest Stock Cars in racing history. The cars weigh only 1100 pounds, using a 1250cc motorcycle engine to produce 134 HP. While it may look like a large car, it is only 10 feet 6 inches long and 5 feet wide. Standing 46 inches tall. A staggering power to weight ratio transforms these Legends into a rocket.
Driver Bios:
#59 Mike Madore
In 2007 after many years of watching others fulfill their racing dreams, I finally made the change from spectator to driver.
Near the end of the season my brother and I took our old family car and turned it into a 4 for fun car. After taking a race driving course in a Legend I had to buy one. The Legend is an extremely fun car to drive. It has stability, agility and raw power. That car had me hooked.
In 2008 I hit the track with a very fast, well setup car. This car has seen the checkered flag many times in the past. I look forward to bringing it in to a checkered flag myself one day.
After our final race of the season in 2008, the track director announced that I was the most improved driver of the year.
#63 Eric Madore
2008 was the first year of racing for Eric. In 2007 Eric attended the Brassil Creek Racing School. School owner, Frank Johnston was impressed by his abilities. He had good speed and handling from the first lap he ever drove.
After taking a Legend around the track, Eric was hooked.
His first season on the track was very impressive. He ran a strong race with a tired engine and pulled as much from it as he could. Eric is looking forward to 2009, when he'll be hitting the track with a newly rebuilt engine and a full season of experience under his belt.
2009 Eric officially changed his car number and colour to brilliant yellow #63. Mike designed the number font.
Crew Bio:
Quick Jack Sandi (Sandi Madore)
Mike and I had been going to Capital City Speedway as spectators. We wondered if we could translate our love of watching to a passion for competition. After deciding to put our old beloved family car on the track we soon learned racing was something we both loved.
The Legends series fits us very well. Our first season was filled with learning, making friends at the track, trying to get a handle on the intricacies of driving a Legend, dealing with wrecks and wins. I got my nickname from Mike - he noticed my failed effort to lift the front of the Legend with the Quick Jack. No matter how much downward pressure was applied, the Legend would simply not lift for me. The resulting decal on the back of the car came from a video Mike made and is testament to how much fun we have on the track.
2009 was a season filled with triumph and tragedy for the #59. A blown engine and a completely wrecked car didn't keep us off the track. The last Feature race of the season saw us breathing clean air right up to the last few inches of the race. What a perfect finish to a very eventful year. As long as we're having fun, learning, staying competitive we'll be racing Legends.
